The lifetime of many covers can be extended considerably and cost effectively simply by replacing broken zips, damaged fixings, torn windows, broken stitching or ripped cloths.
We offer a ‘repair as you wait service’ (we will even make you a cup of tea!) for people who bring their covers to us. This work is dependant on the actual fabric of the cloth still being serviceable. Once a cloth has become what we call sun stroked e.g. it is rigid and cracks when folded it needs replacing or leaving until it finally disintegrates. Covers made from hooding cloth will fall apart from the inside as the cotton layer that absorbs the moisture rots. This will usually begin around zips and stressed fixings, some extension of life is possible by reinforcing the damaged area but do not expect to get another five years out of it.
To repair a cloth we request that it is brought to us dry and without a thick layer of green mould! In addition to repairs we are also able to add zips or windows to existing cloths.
