Semi-trad tonneau
A flat cover over the open stern deck of semi-trad style narrowboats. Usually removed completely or rolled onto the cabin roof while cruising. An option is the addition of two zips making an opening for a steerer to remain dry and warm below the waist. A removable polycarbonate baton held in chrome sockets supports the cover and prevents puddling. Price guide: £140.00 with 1 support spar. Semi-trad canopy
All of our semi-trad canopies have the following features: - A three spar 16-gauge stainless steel frame.- Much stronger (and no alloy dust to discolour the inside of the cloth).
- Removable side panels
- A zipped rear panel for ease of access
- A three window wrap round front windscreen with the middle window panel zipped so that it can be rolled up if required (saving constantly struggling to clear the windscreen of condensation!
- Designed to allow rapid lowering and raising as headroom demands.

The ability to roll up the back and front of the cover and to remove the sides means that it makes a very functional sunshade if required. Price guide: £700. Cruiser Sterns A cruiser stern offers the choice of a flat tonneau rain cover that is removed while the boat is being cruised or a full ‘pram style’ canopy Tonneaus
Either a full one-piece cloth that is removed in its entirety before cruising or a two piece with a separate skirt that fills in the area below the handrail. A two-piece cover has the advantage of the skirt giving weather protection - particularly if it extends to the cabin sides with a facility to be folded and clipped out of the way when access is required. Extending the cloth in this way also acts as a barrier if young children or dogs are on board. It is also considerably warmer on the lower body than an open stern. Cruiser sterns vary in their size and complexity and we prefer to price them individually. A cloth with a separate skirt is going to cost a little more than a standard one-piece cloth. Consideration needs to be given not just to how the canopy will function when erected, but where it goes when folded. Overshooting the rear fender could be both dangerous and expensive while locking; too far over the sides is likely to create problems with scraping bridge and tunnel sides. As each canopy is designed individually we will advise accordingly when on site. We welcome the sight of well-made wooden folding windscreens but please consider the height if making your own, as this will determine the height of all that follows (we do not make them but are happy to advise as to what we would like to work from). Obviously styles and rear decks vary enormously but all of our pram style canopies have the following features: - A 16-gauge stainless steel frame, which we make to accommodate each customer’s specific needs, (their height, air draft within their cruising range etc). Using stainless tubing means that covers can be tighter and therefore lower than alloy frames allow. We also have a facility to roll tubing that means we can follow the curves of rounded sterns.
- A three windowed front panel with the main window being set into a zipped panel that can be rolled and clipped up if visibility is poor.
- Removable side cloths with a full two zip doorway and windows.
- A glazed and zipped rear panel that can be rolled up.
The combination of front and back roll up panels and removable side cloths means that the cover will also function as an open sunshade should it be required in hot weather.
